Resumo curto / Short abstract
O objectivo central do presente painel é o de dar voz às populações do passado e tentar reconstruir não só a sua paleobiologia e paleopatologia mas também as paleodietas e os seus sistemas de mobilidade.
Resumo longo / Long abstract
O estudo de necrópoles é uma ferramenta essencial para a compreensão das populações pretéritas. A análise de vestígios humanos e das práticas funerárias em conjunto com a pesquisa historiográfica permitem recuperar o passado das populações, deduzindo comportamentos e organizações sociais a partir das características intrínsecas dos enterramentos. Em articulação, os dados antropológicos e a antevisão escatológica proporcionada pela abordagem historiográfica de textos e de obras de arte dão-nos a possibilidade de aferir mentalidades, crenças, rituais. O objectivo central do presente painel é o de dar voz às populações do passado e tentar reconstruir não só a sua paleobiologia e paleopatologia mas também as paleodietas e os seus sistemas de mobilidade. A partir da memória colectiva e do livelihoods gravados nos ossos das populações passadas tenta-se, também, problematizar as actuais comunidades humanas. O desafio está assim lançado a todos os investigadores de terreno para apresentarem alguns dos resultados das suas pesquisas, enriquecendo a análise e conhecimento dos nossos antepassados.

The present panel pretend to give voice to the populations of the past and to try to reconstruct not only their paleobiology and paleopathology but also paleodiets and their mobility systems.
Resumo longo / Long abstract
The study of necropolis is an essential tool for the understanding of past populations. The analysis of human vestiges and funerary practices together with the historiographic research allows to recover the past of the populations, deducing social behaviors and organizations from the intrinsic characteristics of the burials. In articulation, the anthropological data and the eschatological preview provided by the historiographic approach of texts and works of art give us the possibility to gauge mentalities, beliefs, rituals. The present panel pretend to give voice to the populations of the past and to try to reconstruct not only their paleobiology and paleopathology but also paleodiets and their mobility systems. From the collective memory and livelihoods engraved on the bones of the past populations, it is also tried to problematize the present human communities. The challenge is thus set out for all field researchers to present some of the results of their research, enriching the analysis and knowledge of our ancestors.
