Utilização das metodologias biográficas como entrada no universo emocional do Outro e modo de entender como indivíduos específicos aprendem ativamente sobre o seu mundo (e o seu lugar nele, bem como sobre contestá-lo e mudá-lo) e o expressam como significantemente constituído, permitindo ao antropólog@ explicar o mundo social em análise.

O método biográfico procura o entendimento das experiências de indivíduos, levando à entrada no universo emocional do Outro. Implica um processo interpretativo para construir um entendimento partilhável das vidas narradas, e um desejo de colocar o Outro e a sua humanidade no centro da pesquisa antropológica. A biografia e suas variações permitem evidenciar similitudes e diferenças em vidas individuais, tendo os métodos biográficos conhecido um ressurgimento em várias áreas académicas. O ato de narrar a outro (antropólog@/ etnógraf@) é um momento de construção ativa do EU como significante. A investigação antropológica que utiliza metodologias biográficas permite ver da interconexão entre indivíduos e história, mundos interiores e mundos exteriores, mostrando os narradores como agentes na construção das suas vidas. Nesta forma de abordagem as grandes abstrações teóricas não têm real solidez fora das relações interpessoais, fora da experiência vivida das pessoas e suas histórias. Este painel agrega comunicações, que tendo como base a utilização das metodologias biográficas as utilizem para explicitar como indivíduos específicos aprendem ativamente sobre o seu mundo (e o seu lugar nele, bem como sobre contestá-lo e mudá-lo) e o expressam como significantemente constituído, auto-narrativa essa que é recurso d@ antropólog@/etnógraf@ na explicação do mundo social em análise.

The use of biographical methodologies as entry into the emotional universe of the Other and a way of understanding how specific individuals ‘actively’ learn about their world (their place in it, its contestation and change) and express it as meaningfully constituted, allowing the anthropologist to explain the social world analysed.
Resumo longo / Long abstract
The biographical method seeks to understand the experiences of individuals by entering the emotional universe of the Other, which involves an interpretive process that builds a shareable understanding of the lives narrated, and a desire to place the Others humanity at the center of anthropological research. The biography and its variations allow evidence of similarities and differences in individual lives, and biographical methods have experienced a ressurgence in several academic areas. To narrate to another (anthropologist / ethnographer) is a moment of active construction of the Self as significant. Anthropological research using biographical methodologies allows to see the interconnection between individuals and history, inner worlds and outer worlds, showing the narrators as agents in the construction of their lives. In this form of approach the great theoretical abstractions have no real solidity outside of interpersonal relationships outside the lived experience of people and their stories. Panel gathers papers where biographical methodologies explain how specific individuals actively ‘learn’ about their world (and their place in it, as well as about challenging and changing it) and expresse it as meaningfully constituted, producing a resource to the anthropologist/ethnographer in the explanation of the social world under analysis.
