Synopsis | EN | The story of the documentary Pothos concerns the Afghan refugee Rahmat who at the age of 15 in 2002, traveled from Afganistan, through Iran and Turkey, to arrive at the Greek island Lesvos. During the past years he lives and works in Athens.
We met Rahmat through a friend of us. After a telephone conversation we had with him about our general idea he was keen to participate as the main character of our film.
The aim of this documentary was through the personal story of Rahmat to illuminate some aspects of the daily life of refugees in Athens and to highlight the problems they face in their daily life and focus to their integration into the Greek society. The documentary was filmed in Athens. Specifically, the shootings took place in Exarchia neighbourhood, at the office of the Afgan Community, at Victoria square etc and at the Eleonas refugee camp.
